September 2010 Program: Starting the Fall with a New Format....
The September meeting of our club will feature a change in format over the past couple of years. Our usual format brings us wonderful presenters who we ask to provide us with new information through a demonstration of their skills in styling, shaping and caring for bonsai trees.
Usually, we sit back, enjoy the show and chat during the intermission with one another and/or the presenter. Next we may drift over to the raffle table at the end of the room and buy some raffle tickets. (If the presenters demo tree really touches our fancy we may even buy a few extra tickets.)
An Alternative:
Earlier this year I spoke with several presenters who regularly provide a different type of program. One that is more interactive and more personal, and one of them will be with us at our September meeting, on Saturday the 11th.
The presenter will be Lindsay Shiba and the program will be a teaching and learning session as Lindsay visits us one at a time to discuss where we are going and what are our concerns about our tree. Those unable to bring trees are encouraged to come along, watch. listen, and learn. We want to see everyone there.
He has requested the following from those of us with trees in process. Please bring our TREES, TOOLS and WIRE.
When Lindsay is helping others we will be working on our trees and talking with one another, or following along with Lindsey and he moves from person to person.
AND, by the way, there will be a special item in the raffle as well.
See you there. Dick Ryerson
